Morocco (photostory)
Marrakesh offers a buzzing experience of a beehive. Seemingly chaotic road traffic, bustle of bazars, cannonade of colours, endless stream of people and constant clatter are at first overwhelming. But, it is enough to enter the side street or close the door of the Riad to submerge in entirely different, relaxing atmosphere. These interchanging contrasts are the best the city offers.
The city is full of wonderful nooks, corners and surprises. We even became the chefs in a Moroccan-French-Polish tagine (the local delicacy) party.
From Marrakesh we move to Atlas mountains. Though the city brougt plesent surprises it is the clean mountain air and splendid nature which is the most admirable.
A most admirable hike around Asgaour near Seti Fatma.
Terraced fields of Aguerd bring a riot of greenery.
We change the scenery to the seashore. Essaouira, the blue city welcomes us with windswept beaches and a delight of narrow streets of the old town.
A splendid mountain road leads us through the Atlas to the country of Kasbahs, a land of red soil bordering Sahara desert.
Another stretch of scenic mountain road leads to a valley where salt was traditionally acquired. It is so dry that salt outcrops are directly accessible from the red soil. It is fun in finding salt stones in surrounding hills. The feeble seasonal creeks dry leaving further salt deposits.
An oasis on the road and kasbah - a remnant of old glory.
A town of Ait Ben Haddou, a famous scenery of many movies.
The desert is vast and empty. But is it really so empty? Surprisingly, there is a lot to attract attention everywhere. While the contrasting greenery of oasis is like entering a completely different world.
Some rest at the luxuries of an oasis.
The road through Atlas mountains leads from barren desert on Sahara facing side to green valleys on western slopes.
Ouzoud waterfalls. Breathtaking, though overcrowded in midday. Early morning offers a quite view.
Somewhere on the road.
